Sikkim Helicopter Service
Sikkim Tourism offers helicopter services from Gangtok to Bagdogra Airport. This 26-seater helicopter (previously 5-seater) provides a stunning view of the hills, making it a much faster option than traveling by road and can be particularly useful in emergency situations. The journey typically takes about half an hour to reach the destination Bagdogra or vice versa. In addition to regular services, this helicopter service offers exclusive mountain flights where passengers can experience close-up views of Himalayan peaks, including Mount Kanchendzonga (the third highest peak), Mount Siniolchu, and many other Himalayan ranges, or fly over Gangtok. Special flights are also conducted over West Sikkim and the Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim.
The ticket reservation counter is open between 10 am to 5 pm. You can call the contact person to check the availability of tickets, travel dates, and actual fares. As per the information, the fare is around Rs. 4000 from Bagdogra to Gangtok. However, other flights, such as the Gangtok Aerial View Joy Ride, may cost around Rs. 10,000.
