The Do-Drul Chorten

The Do-Drul Chorten
The Do-Drul Chorten, a significant and large stupa in Sikkim, is encircled by 108 prayer wheels built by Trulsi Rimpoche in 1945-46. Trulshi Rimpoche, the leader of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism, constructed this stupa. Inside, you can find complete sets of religious items like Dorjee Phurba (Bajra Kilaya) mandalas, Kan-gyur relics (Holy Books), and 'Zung' (mantras). Surrounding the stupa are 10 prayer wheels called Mani-Lhakor, which Buddhist devotees spin while chanting to invoke the Buddhisattva. The Chorten is also surrounded by the Chorten Lakhang, where two large statues of Guru Rimpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) are located.
